My friend gave me a 10 gallon eclipse system. I want to set this up as a QT tank, but what do I do with it when I am not QTing anything? Do I just break it down? Should rock be QTd for a while to see if anything snuck in on it like aiptasia? Just wondering.
Thanks-
Jeremy

When I don't have any fish in the QT I just leave everything going except for the lights. If you look at the top where it says "basic FAQ" Beth wrote an excellent post about Q tanks.

You can QT rocks if you want. Better to see if the source you buy your rocks from shares filtration or tank with fish. If so, then it is conceivable that the rock can carry in ich.

Up to you what you attach to your QT in the way of filtration. Just as long as you can keep good water quality.
What I would do for meds is just make sure your LFS has the basics so that you can get them if you need them. Maracyn Two for SW fish, furacyn, formalin, copper and test kit. Don't buy a fish when you know the LFS is going to be closed.

Thanks for the info everyone. I had read the sticky prior to posting the question, but I wanted to see what other people had done. Thanks again.
