Doing good?

I started my 55 gallon reef tank with about 90 pounds of live rock and 120 pounds live sand about 4 months ago and it is my 3rd tank......I haven't added anthing to the main tank exept several snails (Astraea and Turbo) and 2 large serpent stars and 3 pepperment shrimp and a sand sifting star. The turbo snails have been dieing lately (i think because i over stocked them) and my tank went through a mini cycle but i think it is finish now because the nitrates and nitrites are 0.......
But there is one problem i have a 10 gallon refugium that has macro algea and it also has amphipods and bristle worms...but the amphipods got into the main tank and seem to be over populating it and are all over....I am going to order a sixline wrasse and bangai cardnal to help keep there pop down and also two dwarf feather dusters that are a cool blueish purple color to help clean the water
Do u think I am off to a good start on this tank?
P.S. I plan to turn this into a sps tank (i have 2 175w metal halide pendats and 2 15w actinic lights)

waterfaller1-I think i had a parisitic snail that was killing them they are round sort of @ looking things (I believe they are the kind that kill clams soon and i think the sixline wrasses eat them) and yes the salt was down to 1.22 on thursday and i slowly raised it to 1.25 and my temp was 8.3 but now it fluctuates around 79.9 to 82 degrees.
Tim0- I believe the sixline and the bangia eat other thing other than pods so if there level is depleted to low in the main tank i can always feed them some from the refuge or i can give them ether frozen foods or brine shrimp wich are in the main tank and refuge
Fishman- I have had madrins in the past and i think they are really hard to care for and they are bothered by other fish to easly (specially by other pod eating fish like the sixline) and i really hate having to move fish out of my tank once there in ther cause its really hard to get them out- but i am still thinking about getting one in the future because when i had it before i loved how they sort of hovered like humming birds and are gorgeous fish :)
