Not a fact, but a slight possibility. As with anything that dies in your tank, you want to remove it before it decomposes.
Animals that can release toxins into the water as a defense mechanism, generally don't poison the tank if they die a natural or peaceful death. If they get sucked into a powerhead or picked apart by an aggressive fish that could be a different story.

Sea Hares are in the snail family, not the sea cucumber/nudibranch family.
As such they do not have the toxins that the latter can excrete on death. However, being a fairly large creature it is wise to remove it from the aquaria if it dies.
