I HAVE A 150G TANK WITH ROCK FROM A ALREADY ESTABLISHED TANK(ABOUT 200LBS) I HAVE A YELLOW TANG, HIPPO TANG, LARGE CLARKI CLOWN, AND A ARC EYED HAWK THAT WILL BE LEAVING SOON FOR TRADE. A DECOR CRAB AND STAR AND SOME TYPE OF WHITE CORAL(?) I WOULD LIKE A ANGEL AND NICE TRIGGER AND MAYBE EVEN A PUFFER. MAYBE EVEN ADD A FEW MORE TANGS AND CLOWNS. I DONT WANT THEM TO KILL EACH OTHER......WHAT SHOULD I BUY THAT MAY WORK FOR ME AND WHAT SHOULD I GET RID OF? (THE TANK HAS BEEN UP FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW) GOOD LUCK WITH WATER QUALITY SO FAR. OH YEAH AND A PROTEIN SKIMMER WITH A BIO FILTER AND 2 DIFFERENT WET DRYS. PLEASE HELP I DONT WANT TO WASTE ANY MONEY.

I think that you may want to do some more research about saltwater tanks before you buy anything else. What kind of tank are you setting up? From the sounds of it you have a reef set-up. Some of the fish you mentioned like the puffers and the trigger are not reef safe. They can destroy your reef. If you want to know what to get it would be a good fish or reef book. At first I went to my local library to pick up a book. Finally I realized I should just buy one. The money spent on the books are well worth it.

Dwarf angels like the flame or coral beauties are nice. They'll swim in and out of your rocks. If you are going to do a reef, they may pick on some polyps however. I think two tangs are enough in your tank otherwise they may fight and kill each other.

If you want to get a trigger, niger trigger, as far as I know, is the least aggressive triggerfish. Although it's 'nice', it is still not reef safe. Another trigger that I personally like is the Humu2/Picasso trigger, the coloring is nice, find a small not so aggressive one and it'll be a good addition to your tank.
About another tang, well there are so many different tangs that you can get. powder blue tang is nice. I don't have any experience with it, but I have seen people with those fishes. Or probably, if you want, you can get two more yellow tangs, they're good in schools. Watching them swim together is really nice.
Angel, flame angle is a good one, a very bright angel, though needs a good diet. I think flame angel is one the most attractive dwarf angel.
Clowns, perculas are nice in pairs or ocelaris/ false perculas are nice too. One thing about clowns is you better be careful when you put them together. I've seen people who succeeded on putting some together, but be careful, especially when you're planning to put anemones in your tank.
I do agree, you need to read more about those fishes before you buy any of them. Finding as much information about the fishes will save you a lot of money. Picking the right ones to get along is important but reading about them is more important, I think. I hope that helps.

thanks pals :) i have been thinking and studying also. the thing that frustrated me was that there are general rules to follow however you never know what will work until you try it. i havee bought so far: a blue het tang, a yellow tang. i will pick up a purple tang in the morning. a just bought a very large cinnamon clown, a small clarki clown that i need to trade and a really really large dominoe demsal that is the largest fish in the tank.and a arc eyed hawk. i would also like a sahlo tang ans maybe a sailfin. and one really nice angel(well maybe 2) hopefully i will have my 200gallon reef. that will be a whole nother world!!! any comments?

THANKS PAL! I WILL. I GAVE UP ON THE TRIGGERS AND PUFFERS. I WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP THE PURPLE TANG IN THE MORNING. I ALREADY PAID ALL BUT $60. I HEARD THEY GET LATTERAL LINE REALLY EASY. ANY COMMENTS ON THAT? WHAT ABOUT ADDING 2 MORE YELLOWS AS SOMEONE PUT EARLIER. HOWEVER I REALLY LIKE THE PURPLE. I WOULD HAIT TO PAY OVER $200 FOR A FISH AND HE GOT BEAT UP OR GOT LATTERAL LINE.

If you want to add a pair of clowns you may want to think about taking the clarki back. But personally I would give it a try and keep an eye on em. Your tank is big enough. If you really want a trigger do some research on Blue Chin Triggers - they are probably the least aggressive and dont get too large as well. I would strongly rethink mixing the purple with the yellows. They are just too similar and purples can be aggressive. Sohals are really mean too. All tangs are prone to HLLE. Soak your food in selcon or zoe when ya feed them. Make sure they have a varied diet with lots of veggies and good water conditions and you won't have any problems.

Yeah you do sound pretty overstocked as is cause those fish are going to grow really large really fast. Tangs are failry succeptible to HLLE, but if you feed tehm a varied diet that includes flak, frozen and fresh foods supplemented with vitamins, they should do fine. A beautiful and totally reef safe trigger that you might consider is a blue jaw trigger. The lfs that i work at recently got like six in, they are all beautiful and do well in reef set ups. WE actually put one in our show tank cause he was so gorgeous. Anyways read read read. I only wish my university would offer a class in SW fish, especially cause teh moey i spend on books is comprable to that which i spend on textbooks!

My understanding was that tangs would attack each other in even numbers. In other words, you can have 1, 3, or 5, but 2 would fight.
You might want to consider that before adding a $60 purple tang.
