Don't wnat algea!

what would I get to reduce or prevent algea in my tank...and how long should I wait from the day of setup before putting it in?????

few questions. How old is you set up? Livestock list? Any direct sunlight? Type and age of bulbs? How much flow you getting in tank?

Set up is only week and 1/2 old. livestock is just one damsell for cycle. 2 fouresent tubes...one white, one ultra blue. getting a whole lotta flow for the size tank! 29 gal tank, 400 gph mech filter, and 2 power heads.

Seems like your tank is still cycling. If its diatomic algae then that will go away on its own. Also what type of water are you using?

Im just using regular tap water with some conditioner for the chlorine. Our tap here in Modesto, CA isnt really all that bad.

You can go to Wal-mart and get ro water for .33 cents/gal. It will make a big difference in the health of your fish. Not only will the ro water help your fish it will cut back on the algea growth.

Reverse Osmosis water.....Its water with all the BAD STUFF removed. You can start from no on. Just do you water changes and adding water by using this. You can either go and buy it from the stores like mentioned above or you can purchase a RO/DI unit for like $150.00. Your choice.

RO/DI units are a good choice if you need to do constant water changes for many tanks or if you just have a big tank. They will produce between 25 gal/day- 60 gal/day $200-300 but they require plumbing, water container, and excess removal of bad water. Just do a search to see if you are interested. They are worth the money in the long run!

yeah, you can start using RO water right now/your next change or partial change for cycling.
