Can someone comment on the need for PWC in a FOWLR tank with macro algae if the Nitrates are staying under 10-15?

Removes detrius, replaces some elements and just a good general practice but sounds like your doing fine your way as well.

Let the algae expand until nitrates are unmeasureable. Your tank is not quite balanced out.
