Hey Gang,
I just got a used 110 show tank for a great price. I have a question for all of you. Have you guys ever try to drill your glass tank? I would like to make a over-flow sump with wet dry at the bottom.
1. Its safe?
2. How much would this job cost?
3. What are other none-listed things i have to do.???
My tank is 4'L x 18"D x 30" tall.
The second question i have is that the tank is clear and i would like to paint the background.
1. What type of pain should i use (i.e Water base, Oil base, semi or gloss)
2. What is the peferred color for the background.

If you do you need a diamond drill bit (very $$)

YES, by a trained person, bring it to a local glass shop(call first) you should drill (2) 2 1/2" holes on both rear corner edges.
2. How much would this job cost?
from 20 - 45 bucks

get the pipe for the overflow hook it up to a wet/dry system...

if you are going to paint the tank use a water base paint and paint the OUTSIDE of it
2. What is the peferred color for the background.
that is your choice , but I like blues and greens, (or paint a coral background)
