Hey Gang,
I just got a used 110 show tank for a great price. I have a question for all of you. Have you guys ever try to drill your glass tank? I would like to make a over-flow sump with wet dry at the bottom.
1. Its safe?
2. How much would this job cost?
3. What are other none-listed things i have to do.???
My tank is 4'L x 18"D x 30" tall.
The second question i have is that the tank is clear and i would like to paint the background.
1. What type of pain should i use (i.e Water base, Oil base, semi or gloss)
2. What is the peferred color for the background.

As far as drilling the glass, who ever you have do it make sure they will replace the panel if they break it. I personally would go with an onerflow box. For the back of the tank,Black or blue are the most attractive colors. Black being more popular. I've never painted it,I have used the self adhesive vinyl. But if you paint it I think any paint would work as long as you allow plenty of drying time. And of corse,Paint the outside of the glass. I actually talked to someone who painted the inside, And paint chips in the water were skrewing up the filter. STEVE
