Drug store iodine???

As the title says can i use iodine from the drug store for iodine dips on coral???
If so there are diffrent types what type do i look for???

No. Drug store iodine is quite different from kents concentrated. For example, drug store iodine is 47% alcohol.

yes, I buy mine at walmart for a little under 3 dollars. It`s equate povidone-iodine solution.Topical antiseptic microbicide.no alcohol in it.

Its all base on what is added to it and also its concentration on how to add it to your tank.

It's only about 10% povidone-iodine. The other 90% is a handful of other things with purified water probably being the last ingredient. I use it for dips, but I'm not sure I'd feel safe dosing it to the tank.

No, i wouldn`t put in my DT tank,used only for dipping new coral.

I never intended on putting it in my DT. Just for diping coral...
How do i mix it like 1gallon tankwater to how much iodine???

I donno LOL. A guy in my area is selling some corals on a site like craigslist (kijiji.com or .ca) he sent me some pics and his tank looks to be a littel neglected.
I just want to be safe.
The corals are a Pink Tip Hammer,Colt,Yellow Polyps and a few really differnt lookin shrooms.

If it's just as a precaution you can do just a light dip. Dilute the iodine with enough tank water to create a light tea color.
