DSB & Lower Nitrates.

Hello.
I converted to a dsb last week and am glad to say that all is going quite fine. I know it still is early & that the sand bed will require time to be fuctioning optimally, however, I am just curious to know when I would be noticing a drop in my nitrates. The current levels are at 20ppm. Will it take a couple of months? Maybee six?. What were your experiences? Thanks, TT.

It depends also in how much live rock you have, the water change you do and the kind of water you use.You know( tap water,ro/di)

Yes, I should have given a few more details. Here we go. 135g with about 60lbs of live rock & another 50 lbs of base rock that will become live (hopefully anyways).
Filtration consists of a Berlin skimmer, 4 802 poerheads, and 3 Aquaclear 500's. They currently have an insert each. These will be gone & the filters will run empty. My sand bed is 4.5" deep and composed of aragonite (top 2" layer), and coral sand.
This is a fish only set-up with some inverts. Fish include: Yellow Tang, Scissortail Hogfish, Cuban Hogfish, Anthias, Yellow Coris Wrasse, & a Fairy Wrasse.
I do weekly water changes of about 15% of the system's water.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Sammy's advice sounds like something Mr. Miagi would give?
