As many of you know in my topic depressed I have just lost a blue spotted jawfish. I have reason to believe it is because of my sand depth which is very crappy and seeing as how the LFS worker is replacing me with a new fish I want a good sand bed for him. My question is how can I get the sand in there with all my live rock and corals without removing them. I am thinking of buying Southdown because it is so cheap but should I just get a cup and dump sand in very slowly or are there any other methods that don't involve removing all of my livestock...Ryan

Are rubble and shells a good thing in a sand bed? Don't they create dead spots in the sand? I thought that I read somewhere that dead spots in the sand is bad.
