DSB

I have seen the term DSB used a great deal in reference to the bed of a tank but I have been unable to find out exactly what it is. I have argonite as my base, approximately 2-3 inches, the critters keep sculpting it. Should I look to make a change? I have a Semireef tank at the moment but may want to get a larger tank in the future and create a full blown reef tank.

Thye best thing you could do would be to add another inch or 2 of bioactive live sand. DSB means a Deep Sand Bed, deep being a relative term. 3-5 inches usually. Your aragonite is the right stuff, just maybe more of it.

Can you mix aragonite together with live sand? Is one placed over the other, or mixed together.

Just place it on top of the existing sand. No need to mix it. The critters will do that for you. --Bob
