DSB

I have a 125gal tank deminsions are:72 1/2"x18 1/2"and 23" high. Now, a dsb needs 4 to 6inch deep. I measured it and 4" would not look good on my tank it's about 3" above the frame that goes around the tank.
Is it possible to get the same effects of a dsb with lets say 2"? If so or if not please explain.

i have a 4-5" dsb and i think it looks better coming above the frame...
plus, you lose the benifits of a dsb when you have less than 4"...
