I know you will think I have losted it, but it is starting to get cold, and I have a hearter for my tank. My question is do I hang it in the main tank or in the sump? I know this is dumb but...............
I agree in the sump that lets the tank appear more natural no junk. One reminder to be sure that it is the right size for your tank. The formula was given to me by someone on this forum and it is suppose to be 3-5 watts per gallon. It was also recommended that 2 heaters can protect you from failure disaster. I also live in a cold zone and have 2 just for that reason. I hate to get cold can't imagine the fish like either ha ha
Good luck where ever you put it
Thanks everyone, I think I will put it in the sump,I have 1 heater but headed to wal-mart to get another. One other question, my sump is not full to the top with water and the heater has a water line, do I just lay it in the botton or fill the sump and hang the heater over the side.
You need to have the water level above the line on your heater or you risk breaking the heater all together. If you heater is fully submersible, by all means just lay it in the sump. If not, shut down all your pumps to simulate a power failure before you raise the water level to match the line on the heater.
