New tank 46 gal bow front. Blue spotted puffer, for 2 monthes, added a flame angel 2 weeks ago. All params looking good, he's eatting well, but his back fin is a bit torn and his black lines are faded. He seems to get along really well with my puffer. Could this just be cause hes still new? Also looking to add an eel, most likely a snowflake. Any other suggestions for a somewhat docile smaller eel?

He should be acclimated to the tank by now something is stressing him out. Fin damage is not a good sign, if he is not getting beat up by the puffer then I would check your water again then post your exact parameters. Also are you running a heater?

2 heaters, stay between 77 and 78 degrees. kh 8, ph 8.2, calcium 420, nitirte and ammonia 0. He seems very hungry all the time, I'm afraid he's not getting what he needs. I feed frozen cubes, spirulina, brine, and mysis shrimp mix. Sometimes blood worm mix. Puffer eats mostly freeze dried krill, and clams on the half shell. So they don't compete for food. I put green marine algae in there but he doesn't seem to eat much of it. Thinking about trying som different Sea Veggies. Thanks for the help

You posted nitrites and ammonia but not nitrates... could it be possible you're overfeeding the tank and your nitrates are high? They can be high without any signs of nitrites or ammonia.

Nitrates, contrary to a lot of opinion, won't hurt fish. It can hurt the population of tiny inverts (pods, etc) that live on LR.

Most sources I know say a flame shouldn't go into a tank without a lot of LR that has been there for. 6-12 months.
As to diet: this is from a good source (IMO) "The diet of the Flame Angelfish should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other high-quality meaty items." They are omnivores; so need a good variety of meat and veggies.

Looking to add 10 more pounds when the money comes my way. Thanks for all teh suggestions, really don't want to loose this guy.
