suposedly you can. If you get something like a fuzzy dwarf or a dwarf zebra, there would be too much room to put anything else in there, because they get 7 inches, A fu manchu only gets 4 inches though. Just something to think about if you are worried about space.

that should be okay. Your filtration and everything else would make everything even more possible though. Do you have live rock? what type of litration? a refugium? But if you get him small, he should be fine.
It would also depend on the fish. The smaller fish, as you said, should be great, as long as the lion wont eat them. Also it would depend on what the fish eats, the carnivors are obviously going to produce more waste than an omnivour or an herbivour. But all in all, you should be able to get a dwarf lion and 2 small fish no problem. I was jsut saying a fu manchu would be good if you want to go for another fish. I personaly love the way the look too. it was just a suggestion, not a necessary alternative.

those should all be okay. The clowns or damsels, or even if they are smaller types of gobies, might be eated, depending on the size ratio of the lion you get and the fish. I would recomend getting the lion when he is realy small. Damsels look great, but i have heard a lot of people complain about how they are realy mean to their other fish. For the most part, it depends on the fish you have though. I have a 20 gallon tank, and in there i have a valentini puffer, a small snowflake eel, an orange spotted sleeper goby, and a small maroon clown. The clown is going to my 40 gallon tonight, and he will be the first fish in there, and once i get a top for the tank, the eel is going in there too. The clwon and the goby are awsome. The goby, because he is always chewing on my substrate, is all my friends favorites. hes relay cool to watch. A clown fish would also make a goob compainion, as long as he isnt too small. I would not recomend a puffer. A valentini are one of the only puffers you can get for a tank taht small, but they are known fin pickers for lions. It all depends on the fish though. But here are some recomendations.
-Some type of clown fish (probably not a maroon since they get 6 inches)
-a sand sifting goby
-damsels and chromis are nice, but may get eaten.
-maybe a dwarf angel like a coral beuty?
-the bangai cardnal fish i hear are awsome, and i noticed you like them.
-maybe a bicolor blennie? I hear nothing but good thigns about them
-firefish
-royal gramma?
These are jsut some suggestoins of fish that can fit in your tank. I am obviously not saying to get them all. Just some ideas so you can pick out fish you like....And a sump is a good idea.
by the way, way to go on picking everything out before you buy, thats nothing i was not able to do when i started this hoby, although im still a newbie. I jsut cruise these forums all the time.

I don't recommend an Angel for a 20 gallon!!! they are prone to ick for one thing and would get stressed in a 20 gallon. I say nothing less than a 50 for dwarf angels! Someone correct me if I am wrong, but that would be asking for trouble. Everything else sounds fine just not all on them together.

it is a 30 gallon tank. and yes, i did just give some suggestions and then stated not all of them.
As for the angels, some dwarf species can be kept in a 30 gallon tank comfortably. A coral beuty (the one i suggested) can because they are much more docile than the other dwarfs, like for instance a flame angel taht would need a 55 gallon tank. most dwarfs can be in a 30, some more examples are a lemon peel and a pygmy angel. Also a multicolored if youve got the money for one.

I have a baby Dwarf Lion in a 38 gallon. I got my other fish first, and allowed the to grow a bit before getting the Lion. I have a Diamond Goby, a tank-raised Maroon Clown, and an Atlantic Pygmy Angel. I also have a full grown Peppermint Shrimp that my Angel LOVES and always stops to get cleaned lol. Although I have seen the Lion eyeballing the shrimp, he is way too large for him to eat. I imagine when the Lion is full grown, he may gulp him up, but I'll deal with that down the road haha. My advice to you is to get your Dwarf Lion SMALL, dont get one that is like almost full grown. The longer your Dwarf has to grow in your tank, the more he'll recognize the routines of your schedule and become accustomed to tankmates (without being able to swallow them!). And feed him live brine shrimp while your tryin to get him to eat frozen silversides etc.. I have had mine rush to the top of the tank when he saw me open the lid and put a piece of silverside in. He charged at it but missed it, and I havent gotten him to do it again yet. But he is coming along :)
