Whoops sorry about the post before(accidentaly hit post). Well anyways I am thinking about turning my old 20 gallon tank into a species only with one dwarf lionfish in it. I need any and all information on these guys and your past experiences. My dad is kinda set on me not getting one cuz of the fact that they are venomous but i was wondering if anyone out there has ever been stung by one of their own dwarfs. I really like these guys and think it would make a cool species only tank.. Any info is appreciated. ~RYAN~

I had the same problem with my dad, I wanted a dwarf in my 20gal, he said no because they are deadly... To most people, its like a bee/wasp sting and this is not deadly. Bee/wasp stings aren't usually deadly, but to some, they have a allergic reaction and die from the sting. The same applies with all lionfish, (they are deadly only to those allergic). After I told my dad this he said I could get one... too late now, too many fish now. :D

dwarf lions are neat little fish and like said and like any other lions are poisonous.. and as scary as this may seem they're quite docile..just poisonous.. the lfs where i work has a system of 20 gallon tanks for our retail and we have a 13" red volitan in one that noone will ever buy but hey people like to look at him.. been there for years...any way i clean the tank all the time and he goes and chills in the corner till i'm done very nice fishy..lions also don't seem to like nitrates too much, my experience, ..i've also experienced the sting of a red volitan.. yeah it hurt.. but i'm still here got a nice little scar out of the deal but hey can't blame him..
