I'm looking to build a sump/refugium for my 65 gallon reef tank that I'm hoping to start up after the holidays. Any suggestions on design will help for me. Let me know what you thinks works and doesn't work.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.

A three chamber sump. Skimmer chamber on one side with the overflow drain, middle have the return pump, other side refuge use the return to fill the refuge and main display tank. All the water flows down to the return.

I'll be tagging along. I'm seriously considering making a sump. You may want a mod to move this thread to the DIY section. This way the experts will be right there to help you out. Acrylic, 2Quills and Al are all awesome (as well as a few others) in this department.

Thanks Krista for the kind words, I guess to start off we need to know how much real estate you have under your tank or where you want to put it. Do you want a refuge, skimmer type. I have a 65 and 40 on the same sump set up the refuge is a separate tank and I run an algae scubber but it is above the DT. Get some information out and we will be happy to help - I can do some quick drawings to help out if you wish - also are you a DIY kind of person, because that can really save you some $$$$.
Krista same goes for you, you know I would be happy to put some drawings together. I know you can build one.

Thanks Gemmy!!!!!! Al the master can sketch you up anything your heart can desire. GeoJ posted a very good example of a system. Looks like Marc's work!!!!! As Al stated what room do you have to work with inside the stand? Any equipment selection/choices or sizes? All will factor into the design and build. Think outside the box as well. It's a DIY project, so you tailor it to your exact needs/wants..... Tagging along!!!!
