DYI your own 6' protein skimmer

My local s/w store in Carlisle, Pa. showed me how to build a 6' protein skimmer for my 125 gallon reef tank. I,ve had this skimmer up and running now for three months. I'm getting about 3 pints of waste water per day from this protein skimmer. My old protein skimmer only produced about 2 pints of waste water in 2 to 3 weeks.

Hey reefer2,
checked out the page, looks good, although you could probably modify it to be a co-current/countercurrent and make it half as tall. I've built a few skimmers and the toughest part has to be the foam throat and collection cup(without leaks). If you could get us some details that would be great. I like how his upper section looks and it looks like he used common pieces but the photos aren't clear enough for me to discern the throat and the cup portion. Thanks for posting this, I've got a 4 footer sitting in the corner because I couldn't get the upper section to work right. I pulled really dark liquid, but it kept getting the carpet wet, thanks in advance.
