Dying Brain

I went to my LFS today. They have a red open brain, the top lobes are white and not healthy looking. The owner recently purchased the store and is really upgrading the place. It had a really bad reputation prior to him owning it. What is the best way to heal this brain. It was taken out of a large reef tank that they took down and is now in a small tank under a metal halide.
What would you guys do if you had the opportunity to work on it?

well it sounds to me like it might be going threw light shock seeing that it went from a larger tank down to a small tank.

So do the white parts definately need to be cut off, are they totally dead?

Nope just sounds a little bleached from light shock. Are you seeing any of the skeleton of the base?
