I have had this frag for about a month now. It is starting to produce nubs where it looks like it is growing. However yesterday I noticed it was not out all the way and it looked like it was turning white. Any ideas??? I have 0 ammonia, 0 trites, and 0 trates. My specific gravity is 1.025, my temp is 78, and ph is 8.3. My lights are the aquactinics Tx5 and the monti is placed up high. Like I said it looked awesome up until yesterday. I hope he just decided to lay low yesterday and will look good today. This is a 75gal by the way.

Where is it turning white at? Monti's are pretty tough, not saying there can't be problems, but they are pretty resilent. You could try moving it down some, it is possible that it is starting to bleach from too much light from the T5's, IDK for sure, it is possible though. Do you have any pics to help us see what is going on with it. I know you posted some parameters, but what are CA, MG, and Alk testing results? I hope it looks better today for you.

Hey Harris it doesn't look like it's dying, but looks like it was disturbed. Have you been in the tank or seen a crab or anything around it. They will pull their polyps in. Also I found out that when my husband was rebuilding his car jack he used some spraypaint and that alone caused the polyps on my Monti to retract, but caused no harm. Not sure why? The monti is quit hardy, but will pull it's polyps in. I usually check my params when that happens and if they look good I don't worry too much. Also when monti's are growing alot of times you will see the tips turn white before they color in, but as long as their polyps are out it should be fine..

Thanks, I have not been in the tank other than to put in seaweed for the fishies. I have not seen crabs or anything so maybe he is resting. ha All my params are fins so I will monitor for a few more days and see what happens. Other than this he is awesome and is growing.
