toadstools r impossible to kill. if u really think its dead and beyond repair, u can always frag it by cutting a piece of its top off. but toadstools r known to sometimes closed for a few days to clean itself. any pic by chance?

Looks pretty bad. I would try to save what you can. Just rubber band it lightly to a new rock

then head??....i actually thought about taking scissors to the head and maybe trying to glue it somehow to a frag disk or rock...but i dont know if that will be to much stress or not

just cut the stalk as close to the head as you can. Leathers are hard to glue, lots of slim. try a rubber band. dont cut it in your tank.
if you can get a couple of living pieces from the stalk, then cut it to and rubberband lightly,

so cut the head off with scissors and try rubber banding to a rock its pretty big about 6in round...after cutting the head off then cut stalks off and rubber band those to rocks...is that what you are saying??

Thats it. very easy to do, but messy. Use gloves. Its easier with a razor blade. nice clean cut. Be sure to rinse the blade first in case of oil on it. They rust fast.
Put then in a low flow area.

the polyps behind it don't look too good either. Are you having problems with tank parameters? Salinity, ph, temp?

no...i had to move them from my main tank to my makeshift frag tank because my tank and flame were picking at them

I get a little bucket of tank water, just enough to cover it. When I am ready to work, take it out and place on a plate or shallow bowl, do my cutting, then put it back into the bucket of water. When i am ready to band, take out again, and band, then place back in bucket, or you can cut and band then put back in bucket. rince them off and place back in tank.

well i was just telling someone early that i just got it in maybe a week ago or so and it has never perked up i thought it was when the polyps were extending but it started getting worse as time went on and i tried just leaving it alone...the day it was delivered DHL delivered to the wrong address so it sat outside in the cold for almost 4 hours even though it was in a styrofoam box and 2 heat box out side of that the water was still chilled a little because one of the bags busted...but i decided to frag it tonight to see if i could save any of it...pics coming

first i took some water out put it in the brown bowl then put the leather in it....then took some scissors cut the stalk off as close to the head as i could then cut the head into four pieces and put in back in the bowl of tank water for about 30 minutes until i cleaned up the frag tank and made up some fresh water....then put in the tank with a small PH for low water flow...whats next??? just make sure it has plenty of light and little flow??

looks pretty good. in a week or so check them to see if the are attaching, and tank the rubber bands off.
