I need information on what's legal and illegal in federal waters. I have read the Code of Federal Regulations for what is prohibited in the EEZ, but it's written with all latin names which mean nothing to me.
The EEZ is the federal "Exclusive Economic Zone" from 3 to 200 miles out. There is a federal law that makes it illegal to bring up stuff from the EEZ. I am always more than 3 miles out, so I do not need to know about state laws.
Does anyone know of a site where the federal regulations get translated from latin to common English? Or maybe just any old site that explains it without all the scientific mumbo jumbo?
[EDIT] PS- I forgot to mention.... I am a scuba diver and want to collect my own livestock and corals, but don't want to break the law.
