Earthworm in my Chemi-pure

I added Chemi-Pure to my tank yesterday for the first time.
I was pretty shocked to find an earthworm in the sink after rising it off. Alive. Quite vigorously alive.

It seems almost impossible that it would be alive after being sealed inside a jar and shipped who knows how far. And yes, it was definitely an earthworm. I may be new to saltwater, but I am very familiar with terrestrial critters.
I just thought I'd pass this along. It was just too weird not to.
BTW, the tank looks BEAUtiful today. The clearest since I set it up.

Well, yeah I guess so. It WAS a bit of a shock though. I stood there with the chem-pure bag in my hand (leaving it all KINDS of black) with my mouth hanging open after saying "what the F***?!" The I had to catch the thing and get it outside. I threw it into a potted plant. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how it lived in a sealed jar. Weird.

Oh, and something else weird, my sand (aragonite) is now "clumpy". It was fine before adding the Chemi-Pure. I do regular water changes and I don't add ANYthing to my water. Also all the parameters are normal. Can Chemi-pure cause this?
