Can anyone tell me if there is any type of anemone that does not require special lighting in order to live?

this is true. they require low light. but need to be fed often which can mess up levels. they also get HUGE and are very very agressive, often eating fish and inverts, and killing neighboring corals. they do look cool though. they need a deep sand bed and not a lot make it very long. they also dont host clownfish. but they do look cool. lol

some carpet anenomes dont require light. I had a green one that didnt seem to mind dim or bright. They like alot of food and get big. Had mine for 3 years and it was over 12 inches in dia. started at about 6. Clownfish love them. Very cool anenomes look awesome under actinic light. They like to bury there foot in the sand. They will eat fish but most are smart enough to stay away from it.

I have a condi that came hiding inside some live rock and he has survived 3 tank changes from PC to VHO and now MH. My Sebae has taken to him and they have been doing great for over a year now. Not the prettiest but certainly very tough.

Never heard that before.
I think all "hosting" anemones require moderately powerful lighting.

carpet anemones need light. there are other things to consider when getting an anemone though: good flow, and water needs to be in great condition. what kind of lights do you have?

my tank is a 90 gallon
i bought the carpet for my false clown..... while my cinnamon clown claimed the bubble tip.
after a few days the cinn. took the carpet also and bullied my other clown to the point where he jumped out of my tank.
meanwhile, i had been getting begged to get a sea horse.... so i got one
and ofcourse it being a smart creature, swam right for it and i wasnt about to have that anemone have a 60 dollar meal. so i detached it and traded it in for more live rock, lol.

oh i had the carpet for a little over 2 months, i fed it one silverside fish (cut into 4-5 pieces) every monday. i placed it up at the top of my tank when i got it and it moved down to the bottom area, where there was a mild current. and it was very healthy. i think i paid $40 for it and a day or two after i traded it back the owner said he was able to get $50 for it

it takes longer for an anenome to starve to death than two months. you cant say it was doing great in that hsort amount of time.

agreed. 130 watts of PC light on a 24" deep tank would probably not do it for him indefinately.

i guess not, but i am very good at taking care of my stuff for only being in the saltwater field for 8 months :)
my bubble tip has gone from 2 inch diameter to around 10 inch diameter. i bought the bubble in august. i dont think its starving :(
id post pics but i cant get them down to the 100x100 pixel

timer: they often take as long as 6 months to a year to starve. and if it stretches out that much, it could be to get more light because its not gettign enough. the test is to tall us the color of the anenome. if it is white, thats not a good sign.
color teck: 390 watts of what?

yeah i'm sure your water is in good quality to keep any anemones alive. if it is growing like that than it must be doing alright. congrats.
as for the 390 on the 75 it depends on what kind of lights. I assume you mean PC also. If I understand it all correctly, the anemones and corals don't do much with the true actinic light. But hey, water quality and flow are just as important.
