What kind of powerhead would suffice for a 10gal tank. I have 10# lr, 20#ls, a starfish, and snails, and that's it for now. I plan on adding simple corals like zoos, shrooms, and leathers. In the future maybe some lps. Other than easy corals, i will also get a fish or two.
Any suggestions on brand or output would be greatly appreciated!

I would get a small HOB, say maybe a whisper 10-20, or an aquaclear of the same range. Then add prolly two smaller powerheads, around the 110 gph range in the tank and try to get them pointing at each other for some turbulence. Having the HOB and two powerheads will also help eliminate dead spots.
Just to give you an idea, I have two HOBs on my 20 long, along with two 150 gph powerheads. The powerheads are on opposite sides of the tank and creat a swirling motion on the tank, while the HOB filters throw water down into the swirling to creat some alternating currents.

A maxi-jet 400 would work great. I got a few maxi-jet 1200 and they work great and no problems with them.

I finally have my 10g cycling and I have a 20l sump/refug that is turning over the water about 12x a hour give or take a gallon. I was wondering if i should or need to put a powerhead in mine. 16lbs LR, 20lbs LS in main tank. 2" LS bed and about 3lbs LR and 3lbs base rock in refug (about 11g refug). Do i need to add a powerhead in my refug also? It turns over the water about 2x an hour(at most) and I am planning on putting caulerpa(sp?) and some chaetomorpha(sp?) from a friends refug. I am looking to put the same types of corals in my 10g. Oh and the light is a 96w powerquad. Thanks

In my sump or main tank or both? If so should I go for as small a powerhead as I can get? I really hate powerheads especially in a little tank.

Liverock27,
If you have a sump then you shouldn't have any powerheads in the tank. What are you using as a return pump?
I'm running a rio 1300 from my sump to my 7g minibow [3' hp]. Unless your keeping SPS a single return will work. I am running a SCWD with two outputs to randomize currents, but this is not at all necessary. You could also design a spraybar, if your the tinkering type.
I find that when I put powerheads behind rocks, they get clogged very quickly. Then I have to dismantle the tank to fix it. Search for SPS & Zoa minibow for my tank specs and pix.
