Ebo jagers suck!

I had bought a new ebo 50 watt to mix my saltwater with. It worked great. I had not used it for about 2 weeks until yesterday when i bought 15 pounds of uncured LR. I set up my rubbermade mixed the saltwater and put the rock in. I put the heater in thinking it was A-OK. When i get home this after noon i notice the water is ice cold. I take the heater out and notice water trapped behind the glass and the heating coils are disentegrating.
No electircal static when i put it back in the tub. No physical damage to the glass or rubber seals. Why does this heater suck? I thought ebos were supposed to be good.

I also have a 50w ebo. Did you fully immerse it in the water? Mine says at the top DO NOT immerse above water level line.
Now the 150 ebo water line is a min. water level meaning fully immersable. At least that's how see it.

mine has a line on the black plastic cap that says Min water level....so it is a fully submersible.

I learned the hard way never to buy a glass heater again.
The best heaters you can buy are the Pro Heat titanium heaters. They are unbreakable and fully submersible.

I had one shatter and another one shorted out and fried some freshwater turtles.
I love the titanium heater I have now. It has an electronic display that shows the accurate tank temperature. My tank is always 78.5 degrees. These heaters are not that expensive for what you get either. A 600 watt only cost me $65 shipped.

Sorry. Not to try and steal this thread, but....
Is that the only heater that you have in your 120? Is it in the sump or the display.

Yes it is the only heater that I have in my 120. I have it fully submerged in my sump.
It keeps the water temperature constant. I have never had any problems with it not heating the water.
The only "problem" I have ever had was when my wife accidently turned the temperature dial and heated my tank up to 90 degrees. I wound up losing a yellow tang because of that. No other losses though.

I honestly don't like the idea of having one heater, because if one fails, and stops working, your out of luck, i think you should get same watt heaters, and put it on half, so if one does fail, then you can tu rn it up more... JMO

I run 2 150 watt heaters in my 90 and they had been in 58. Although to make sur ethat the heaters don't go bad or at least try to make sure I replace them about annually they are not an expensive piece of equipment relative to one failing on you.

I have worked with almost every glass heater out there- and trust me Ebos are by far the best i have found- i have never had one fail- (used four over the years) and i have had several brands crack- stop working or stick in the on position. You may have had a small crack in the glass that allowed water to slowly leak in- sorry about it though- better off than on i say-

yeah i hear that justin. Good to see you. Havent posted in awhile...or at least i havent ran across any of your posts.
I checked the whole glass tube...I dissasembled the heater and no cracks were apparent. Im guessing just a bad seal. Oh well.
