Eclipse tank

I originally posted this under reef tanks then realized should have posted here. Currently have an 80 gallon eclpise that is finishing cycle. I have upgraded the lighting with pc retrofit. I would like to add a skimmer, but have not found one that will work with the eclipse hood unless I cut the hood. Does anyone else have an ecplise that they have made a skimmer work with? Is the lighting sufficient?

As you will find with most posts about Eclipse systems, you can "make" them work, it is just difficult. You can cut the hood to make a skimmer fit and add a retro kit to get just average lighting.
I started down the same road using an Eclipse 3 on a 37gal. I soon realized that for what I wanted to do, it just wasn't the set-up for me. It has been in the garage ever since. Just an unfortunate waste of money, but I have been much happier since.
Good luck.

I think that I will eventually scrap the hood and redo the filtration and lighting. Until then I'll just cut the hood and add a skimmer. Right now all I have is FO with LS/LR. I may leave it as is and just do a 55 gallon reef later. Thanks for the input.
