I have a 5 gal eclipse hex tank and i did upgrade the lighting to a 50/50 bulb. I have 4 pounds of lr. It handles one clown fish and button pol, and mushroom coral. Also five blue leged crabs. Tank has been going for about two years now and i'm very happy with it.

I have an Eclipse 12 sitting in front of me and I really dont like it very much, but Im not one to throw it away or 'nuttin.
What I dont like about it:
Really, really poor lighting (though I have put in a 50/50 bulb, but it's not nearly enough life.
No sump, not even a little one, so everything sits in the back of the tank, i.e. heater, intake and the surface water skimmer that I added.
Overall I like the tanks appearance and have put a piece of black foamcore board behind it so that most of the junk in the tank is fairly hidded since everything blends slightly with the black backing.
I also have 2 JBJ nano cubes in my living room, one on each side of my sofa that I like very much. Main reason is everything is hidden in the back sump, i.e. heater, extra powerhead etc. So this gives the tank a much more natural look to it, and while the lighting isnt the best, it's still nice lighting for this sized tank.
Just my opinion.
