EEl and horsehoe

Well we thought oru eel of 1 year was very passive with small fish and snails conch, even shrimp, we got horseshoe crab, to our surprise he was having a feast trying to eat them. : dont know if we scared him away or he got hurt with the spines. is that normal for an eel to want to eat a horseshoecrab?can they eat them?

its a crustacean, eels will eat anything they can fit in their mouths...so, yes, to put it simply

How do you know if a horshoe crab died in the sand if you dont see it for a while?

u gotta feel around for it in the sand, mine rarely comes out anymore, and its hard to tell if its still alive from the substrate movement, but once a week, reach around the rock structures and sides of ur tank, they tend to hide there.
