Eel Dilema

I have a 70 gallon with hippo, sailfin, yellow and cole tangs & a chain link eel. Everything was going great (2 years). Had a cleaner shrimp that constantly cleaned the tangs and the eel - no problem. Cleaner shrimp dissapeared suddenly as has all the replacement shrimps. Caught the eel eating the last one. Any suggestions? If not a schrimp, what can I get that will keep my tangs clean?

You don't have much of a choice. Sounds like your eel has a new favorite snack.
You can make sure that the eels eats good portions each time and hope he doesnt eat your shrimp because he's not hungry. You can get rid of the eel. You can also just stop adding cleaner shrimp.
Whatever you do, don't get a cleaner wrasse.

what happens if there isnt any more parasites to eat? a cleaner wrasse is not a good choice..please avoid another fish with that many fish in there, those are big fish.

My Hippo Tang is starting to scratch. I would like to add a neon goby or cleaner wrasse. You seemed concerned over the # of fish I have in my 70 gallon. I have 4 tangs, 1 marone clown, 1 green chromis, 1 manderin goby & the famous eel. Is that too much? They all seem to be doing great.

That is waaaay too much in my opinion for a 70 gallon tank. Tangs need 75 gallons to be happy, and you have four tangs in one 70 gallon aquarium with an eel????
Frankly, I'm surprised you aren't dealing with more problems than shrimp being filet mingon for the eel.
As far as shrimp and eels go - forget about it. He is going to chow down on those shrimp whenever he feels like it, My advice is to get another tank and move some tangs out of the aquarium and house some shrimp in that tank if you want shrimp.
