ive spent all my years of saltwater keeping on REEF keeping. im just gettign to eels and everything. i was wondering if its possible to keep any eel in a 55 gallon. let me know!
if it is the only specimen in there, you can prob get away with a ribbon eel..as he gets older u prob are gona need a bigger tank. smallest tank that they usually need is a 60 so its risky..my .02
Ribbon Eels, as far as I know are generally hard to keep in general. At least that is what I have heard several people who have owned them. I would think I snowflake would be safe, as that is one of the smaller eels. Just make sure you keep him well feed if he is in a reef enviroment.
I double checked in one the Marine Fish books that I have. The book ranks fish on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the worst survial rate and 5 being very hardy. Ribbon Eels was ranked 1. Also, generally when you get them, they are near the end of their life cycle. The Book is Marine Fishs by Micheal W. Scott, it was highly recommended when I fist got into Saltwater Aquariums.
