eel on hunger strike

My zebra eel has refused to eat for about a month now. Water checks out fine, nothing new in the tank. He is still active as usual moving about at night as if in search of food which I am still offering as normal. He has been eating only frozen cubes, formula one, for over 6 months now, refusing anything else. I have tried other foods in the past to try and provide a varied diet but he would only eat the frozen stuff.Could it be possible that he is just tired of the same thing? I know hunger strikes are normal for eels but is there anything else I might be able to intice him with? Also how long can it go on before I should be really concerned?

Dont fret...it's a common occurance for Morays to go on hunger strikes.
My female Hawaiian Dragon went 4 - 5 months without eating, one time and my Whitemouth has gone almost 5 without eating.
Check your pH. I've noticed that whenever mine have stopped eating, the pH has fluctuated a little.

Whatever happened with this? My kidako went on a mini-strike for 9 days when I first transferred him from the 90 into the 215... and I was just beginning to freak out when he FINALLY decided to eat the silversides and squid I was offering... In the WalMart near me, they sell little styrofoam containers of squid, clams/oysters , fish, shrimp, and sometimes fake crab for a good price... The eel loves the squid, the puffer will eat anything, and my Mastiffs like the "krab", so it works out well. f you haven't tried fresh squid, I suggest that.

Good luck!

The hunger strike is still on. Looks like I'm on my way to Wally World. Thank you for the tip. Hopefully this will bring the eel out of it.
