Ya it's kind of a toss up. Even with triggers and really aggressive fish you just might get a non aggressive one...my friend had 2 triggers, and eel, and a lionfish in teh same 75 gallon tank with shrimp, crabs, starfish and he said they picked off a couple snails but thats about it.

There are two very distinct classes of eel. The first have rounded molar-like teeth that are used for crushing. These animals will eventually feel the need to hunt crustaceans. The second group have the nasty long hooked teeth. These are obviously the fish eaters. Its a double edged sword. If you go with a sharp toothed eel, all of your fish are targets. You will have to wait to find one that has been proven not to go after the clean up crew.

it realy does depend on the fish. If you get a snowflake, you should be fine with hermits, but with anythign else, it would depend on the fish. Ive even seen niger triggers in a reef tank, somewhere on this site from someones tank....dont realy remember. My snowflake gets along great with everyone, he gets mad at my valentini during feeding time though because he is eating all of his krill.... But besides that, hes behaved himself.
