eel with red gills

i just came back from my LFS and there was a moray eel and it had red gills....It looked active it was swimming around the tank alittle.... any info on this? What is it? How to deal with it?

umm id say stay away from red gills on any fish unless its the natural coloring...

look at the number four in the pic
4) Fish are gasping, on the bottom of the aquarium, red streaks around gillsMost probably oxygen starvation, or a Gill diseaseYou have too many fish, an air punp may help. Gill diseases are quite rare, you could actually see the gills rot away: use medication.

red gils could be caused by a varied amount of things such as flukes ,high amonia counts,chlorine burns.bacterial infections,a very wide spread causes of this.if the fish sems to be gasping for air not eating .this fish needs treatment asap.if left untreated death is sure to accure.but not knowing exactly what his living conditions have been b4 hand its touch and go when it comes to treatment.
