Eels and Iodine

I am just wondering if my eel needs iodine in its diet or just add it to the water? I know that sharks and rays absolutly need iodine, but I am not sure about eels.

I don't know either about eels. I do know too much iodine becomes poison in a tank. So be sure (just a friendly reminder) to test before you dose for anything.

An eel needs a varied diet. I would not dose iodine to the tank. Eels can get goiters from being malnourished, and the typical cause of the goiter is lack of iodine.

I have a Tessalated Eel and here is what I feed him. He gets a varied Diet ofKrill Sliversides when he will eat them Sand Eels Scallops Head on Shrimp and his Favorite Half Shell Clams. Whn Igot him he was maybe 12 inches I have had him 4 months now and he is close to 2 feet long his favorite thing to do is wrap himself around my fingers like a snake does at times.
