eggcrate top melting??

hey guys i just switched over to an eggcrate top i got at home depot. I installed and it seems like my 3 vho strips are only like 2 - 3 inches offf the plastic is this going to melt the eggcrate??? i will monitor it for the next hour. any help would be appreciated! thanks

i did the same thing and i have had no problem with the lights and i am running 550watts in compacts over a 150 gal tank.

fluorescents of any kind don't get hot enough to melt anything . . . . except maybe saran wrap.

I have egg crate over my top and have my lights about 6 inches from the top of the egg crate, and they always stay cool.

those are made to be under flourescent lighting, that is their right purpose, not fish tank
