electic blue hermit question

I searched the threads, and found some old old ones. But, they were old and didn't have enough information.

My electric blue, has been sitting on the rock for several days. He is my only hermit. In the post I read, it stated that he is probably molting and protecting his new skin.
OK, question. Do they need bigger shells too? I read up on a different site they get to be about 2" max. His shell is that big now???
In the post it also stated that the crab checked out a snail shell but went back to his and cleaned it out and went back in. Mine is covered with what I presume to be a really nice coralline algae. It looks like my rock, and is hard to see him sometimes! lol
OK, so while he is 'sitting' there. He keeps his claw area towards the inside of a crevice. At night he turns around, but still sits there.
Also I read they are not aggressive, and somebody's other hermit killed their blue, he was a bit

Someone told him to ditch the aggressor. If something is eating costs more than what you are eating, put it in sump or somewhere...lol I thought that was FUNNY.
I am really getting into this posts.
Since they are not aggressive, will my mean @@@ blue damsels hurt him in anyway?
heehee..thanks for reading my book.

not sure why its just sitting in one place it migt be getting ready to molt.
Its always a good idea to have some empty shells hermits will just switch out shells just becuse sometimes. If there is a resident then it can take them out to ty out the new home.
damsels usually wont go after them and if they do the hermits just pull into the shell so that the fish cant get to them.

He could be just sitting for a couple of reasons. He could have just molted or is getting ready to molt. Less positive is that he could be old and getting ready to go. I had a hermit that just sat around for about a week and then died. You have no real way of knowing how old the hermit is, so it's a possibility. As far as shells go, if you suspect he's full grown he probably won't need a bigger shell. If you suspect he's got some more growing to do, you could find some larger shells to put in there just in case. And one more thing, I wouldn't worry about the damsels.
