What do you guys pay in electricity for a tank. I have 2 75g tanks that my friend just gave me (they wern't free, i worked for it) and i was wanting to make one aggresive and one a reef. But my LFS said that the lighting cost were outrages because the lights pull so much electricity. So what is your setup as far as lighting and hours for lights/ cycle and cost monthly?

I have a 75 gal with two 250watts MH I would say that this tank has brought my electric bill about $50.00 monthly.I run it 12 hours a day.

depending where you live electricity costs would be different but easy enough to figure out. Take the input watts on the ballast, multiple it by the number of hours you run then and divide by 1000 then multiple that by your cost per kilowatt hour (it should be on your electric bill) so example a 400w electronic MH ballast has an input wattage of 440w so one day of 12 hours is 5280watt hours divide by 1000 to get kilowatt hours so 5.28kwh and say you pay 25 cent per KWH comes to $1.32 a day to run your lights.
