i was adding some seaweed to my seaweed clip in the tank when i felt some electric current that shocked me after 4 seconds my hand was in the tank! i asked my lil brother to keep his hand in the tank as i unpluged each piece of equipment untill
the current was gone. i unplugged EVERYTHING and there was still electricity in the tank. i let it stay dead for 5 mins and pluged everything agen and the electric current was gone. :notsure:
whats goin on?? do u think its is a static build up from my fan that blows air on the side of the glass all night??
equipment:
rio 50, rio 1700, resun 9 watt uv, whisper air 60, standard floresent, fluval fx5, seaclone 150 w maxi jet 1200

Do you have a multimeter? An actual measure might be more accurate than the hand check and help you figure out whats up....

if you dont have 1 already get a grounding probe, it will keep you or your brother from being shocked, the probe is to protect you not the fish!
Be careful when messing with electric, if you get zapped well enough it could change your heart rate, if that happens only way to get it back is a trip to ER and they actually shock you heart back into correct rythm. So please dont use your little brother as a test probe, it is dangerous!

Are you sure you dont have any open sores on your hands. salt makes it feel like electricty if you have a cut or something like that. but still check for stray voltage.

unplug each item 1 by 1 and test the water to see if something is pumping electricity into the tank. You should be able to isolate which item is not working properly.
I had a heater beak and charge one of my tanks one time.

you should be wearing pvc/rubber gloves when putting your hands in tank.
For your safety as well as the tank's inhabitant's.
