elevating rock with pvc stand

Has anyone ever used a pvc stand or built something similar to elevate rock ? I think I could rig something with eggcrate and pvc to sit rock on to get higher in my tank but my biggest concern is hiding the end of the pvc or front. Any ideas ?
Anyone ever tried this and what were the + or - 's.

I haven't tried it but deffinately seen it done before on other tanks. Can't help on the pro's and con's. Just know that I've seen pics of other people doing it.

Which I could find some good pics so I can get in my mind that may work. I want to reaqauascape with mroe height and further back in the tank therefore opening up some sand bed in the front. I don't really want to tie rocks together or run piping through rocks so they stay together or any of that. I want to be able to move rocks around as my corlas increase, etc. So I thought a stand of some sort would elevate things and keep some openess as well. But I would love to find some pics to brainstorm by.

I've done it in the past on a 150 I had years ago.....Works very well, and easy to aqua scape your tank the way you want. Can be tedious, but your structures are stable. Another advantage is that you can get flow underneath your rock work depending how elaborate you build and design it. Also you don't worry about junk getting trapped beneath your rock. I've shifted to using either clear acrylic rod or to pin your rock work together fiberglass driveway markers cut to length work super as well, and cheap.

Both tanks are impressive! How do you attach your live rock to the pvc without drilling holes? I have made "tables" out of eggcrate and PVC. You can adjust the height with the legs and then I piled rocks around the corners to hide the legs. Simple, cheep, made great caves, and got some height. Not nearly as impressive as the photos above but one advantage is that it is easy to move around.

Not my tank but examples for the OP to see how others have done it. Zip ties are often used to attach the rocks to the PVC.
