emarld green crabs

i never had one but i have heard of them and what i know about them is that they eat algea off from the live rock
i heard 1 story on here( i forgot who its from ) where they bought good quality live rock and for a long time every morning they would find white spots but wouldent know why there great coral line algea was disapearing
then 1 night that person was looking at the tank and found the emarld crab haveing a late night snack
i dont know weather there reef safe or not, but other than that story i read i think there good and from what ive heard is that there good to have as they clean nusance algae

thank you for the .02, i too am a new salt water enthusiast. I guess i will find out if he is good or bad, i have to leave for 6 weeks on business and im leaving my wife incharge of the tank, hope is survives

They are actually good crabs from what i've read and learned. I have two in my tank and I love them. They are always picking at algae. They are known for eating that dreaded green bubble algae, also known as valonia algae. I didn't read anything about them eating coralline algae, nor have I witnessed either of mine eating some. Maybe somebody else will shed some light on the subject but I give these grabs my approval for being reef safe.

cool thanks I too like him because he, like my coral banded gave my blue damsel a good pinchin when he went to bully my crab around. They will stick up for themselves... I was amazed and he was free :)
