I know it often looks like an emerald crab is eating corals when in fact they are just cleaning corals, but this really looked like he was eating it. His body is about the size of a nickel, so he is a prety good size. He really looked like he was ripping individual polps off of this SPS. This coral was not in the best shape when I got it, so there are some branches that are dead, but he was grabbing on the live sections and acting like he was struggling to pull off individual polyps. Will an emerald crab eat a SPS coral under any circumstances?
Added a pic of the coral. The lower braches were already dead, but you can see the upper left branches are completely white, which is new die-off. Some of the white tips on the lower right is where the emerald crab has been pulling something off of it.
