I am about to fire him. I have had him for a week and he has not touched my infestation of bubble algae. Has anyone else had a lazy crab or is this a fluke?

I got mine for bubble algae too. He didn't eat it so I had to solve that and my cyano problem in a different way. Thankfully he's good at cleaning up uneaten food. So he isn't worth firing. Well, not yet at least.:D

My emerald hides in a cave that I built with LR and eats as much as a bird. My other cleaners take care of my algae, so it's a good thing that I bought the emerald for its looks rather than usefulness.

I have had mine in there for just over a week now & he hasnt even thought about touching my bubble algae! Who's idea is it anyway that emerald crabs eat bubble algae? Yes he looks cool but it would be nice if he did his job!

At least I just dont have a wierd crab, seems like the ones that eat the stuff are wierd!

Agreed, I think the "emerald crabs eat bubble algea" is a joke. I have 3 and they could care less even if they were standing on one.
Any other ideas to get rid of bubble algae that has consumed about 40% of my 200 gal tank?
I manually remove all that I can every cleaning with the syphon technique. No good.

I'm the only one who removes the bubble algae in my tank. The emerald crab has been on vacation for over a year now.
