They eat bubble algae but they will eat corraline algae too. I caught mine going to town on some corraline in my tank.

ive had 6 and none of them bothered anything. i think really theyre pretty much just for decoration with a little twinge of beneficiality.

im tired.

Chances are they won't do too much to the coraline and what they do will probably grow back just as fast. As long as you don't put a ton of the little buggers in there.

I would have to agree here. I have never seen an emerald as a threat to anything. They may pick, but I don't see them as destructive at all.

k thanks, i just have like little branches in the back of the rock work that i cant get and i need some crab to cut them off. but i might get like 2 for my 24

branches? sounds like grape calurpa (sp?), not bubble algae.. can you post a pic?

i hv 2 in my 72. i wish they eat my coraline algae bc its growing outta control. the only bad thing about emerald crabs is they tend to knock corals and small live rocks over. they r very strong!

ya i know its not bubble algae. am not sure if it looks like grape caulerpa right know because am not near my tank till monday, then i will post picks. do you know any crabs or critters that eat that?
