First thing to do is a water change. Nitrates of 30 is on the high side and you want to begin to bring that down.
Do you use RO or tap? If you are not using RO, do your water change with RO.
What kind of filtration do you have?
What is in the tank?
How long has the tank been running?

There was probably a very high level of phosphates and silicates in the tap. I would just begin doing water changes with RO/DI again, change the carbon often, and use poly-filter pads.
