Emperor 400 or ... ?

Hey guys ... I currently have a 55 gal tank with 45lbs LR, 60lbs base rock, and 80lbs LS. I am running an emporer 400 on the tank right now. The tank has been set up for about a month now and I am looking into a skimmer. My question is ... I found on ---- an Aqua Clear Pro 75 wet/dry filter, w/ 9 gal sump that includes a skimmer and everything needed to hook it up for $178. Does this sound like a deal I should do? (I would like to get rid of the clutter hanging on the tank) or should I just spend the money on a skimmer? Please help! Thank you :D (just type in pro 75 in the ---- search and look in pet supplies if you want to look at the system)

Well... without knowing what you're planing on doing with the tank, I'm not sure what to say.
If its new, thats a really good price!
Overall, skimmers that come with wet-dry combo's are generally considered average to mediocre. However, if you're having a heavy bio-load, that wet dry would be much better than your current power filter. Also, the sump and everything could give you room to add a top notch skimmer, convert to a fuge, many options, plus it clears up all the junk hanging on the back.

Thanks for the info ... my eventual plan for the tank will just be some soft and lps corals. I'm not looking to do any sps with the tank. Of course, a few fish as well.

I like the emperor filters, but I always get the film on the top of my tank if i do not have an overflow. I started with emperors, but later went with an overflow to a sump and refuge. It gives you more room to play around and a place for macros, dsb, and any type of sponge you want. Hope this helps.
