Emperor 400

Ive my emperor 400 for about a year now lately it has seemed not to be sucking up as much fish waste as i think it did at first. I replaced the cartride with right ones for a while i had just the regular whispers in there 4 of them. i know that was a mistake but does that have anything to do with the filters flaws it sucks up little pieces of food an waste but most just sinks to the bottom. Thanks for any response. I have a 4 inch queen trigger in there right now and a small valentine puffer.

the tube that goes into the fish tank, and the impeller is in the chamber connected to the tube, just slides right out, but u gotta remove the spray bars first, and clean those out too

also, it helps to put a prefilter around the intake grate. i just use some filter pads you can buy at the lfs, cut it to size, and wrap around intake grate with a rubber band. it certainly makes the expensive pads inside the filter last longer
