Just curious has anyone gotten this fish with a 40 G tank seems like every angelfish needs 75 g or more ? Is this true This is my fav. fish by far in colors and its on sale lol

no it won't, if theres more liverock just means less room to swim... you need space to swim and lots of rockwork.

A Dwarf/Pygmy angel should do fine in your tank. Some of the easier to keep ones are :flame angels, coral beauty angel, bicolor angel

you can probably have any dwarf angel, in my opinion. what are the dimensions of a 40 gal tank?

in my opinion, and for the fish's health i'd say an Atlantic Pygmy Angel, also known as a Cherub angel would be about the only one.

see thats it... they don't want sparse live rock, they want a load of live rock... and a lot of space. which means a bigger tank to have lots of liverock and space, thats like saying if i can fit 55 lbs of liverock in a 10 gallon tank can i put an angel in it?... no, just my opinion, agree or disagree, your choice.

This is a 40 gal tank with 50lbs of LR. That is perfectly proportionate. I think a dwarf angel would do quite well in there as long as the tank is not over stocked with other fish and not newly set up.

Actually its sort of new setup I bought it from a guy last week he had a maroon clown and a dragonet in it which is in my brothers 55 gal tank right now because I'm letting it cycle first but after getting those 2 fish back I wanted to add an angel and prob just maybe a 4th fish but id be happy with those 3

Is the LR from the old set up as well? It must not have been very new if it was supporting a mandarine. How long was the tank running before you bought it? All of the same equipment?

My last tank was a 37gal FOLR. I had a lemon peel that did great, the only problem was it came from a tank where it was the smallest and all the other fish were real agressive. It started picking at my smaller fish, so I took it back to the lfs, but it was in my tank for almost a year. Then I got a coral beauty and never had a problem with it. Now I have a red stripe angel in a 20 gal QT and no problems there either. It buddies around with my Atlantic Blue tang. Both those fish will be going back in my 55 gal in another week. I'm getting a 200gal in a few months for the tang.

I dont get how what I said is like that at all. Dwarf angels, manderins, leapord wrasses ect require lots of live rock for feeding. That doesn't mean they dont have different tank size requirements, its just a general statement that applies to fish that feed off of liverock. If you dont believe a 40 gallon is large enough for a dwarf angel go there but I think you are over analyzing my statement.
technically an AGA 40gallon (unless its a breeder tank) is the same length and width as a 55 gallon just 4" less height offering virtually the same swimming room as what you say they'll do fine in.
