Emperor Angelfish Tank Size

At some point down the road I am wanting to get an emperor angelfish. I have been reading on it and it seems that just about every site that i've seen has 100 gallons listed as the necessary tank size. However, in the forums I have read I've seen people get after others for having an emperor in only a 200 gallon tank and stating they need to be in a tank at least 300 gallons and 8 feet long. I was wondering if I can get more of a consensus on the size. Right now I'm thinking when in doubt go with the largest size tank (300+), but if that's the case it'll be too big than anything I will be able to get for the foreseeable future.

Also, I am thinking of putting a miniatus grouper, porkupine puffer, volitan lionfish, and the emperor angelfish (or another angelfish/tang/rabbitfish/triggerfish if I do need a 300+ gallon tank)

Thank you for your help!

Personally, I wouldn't put a fish that grows over a foot in length in anything less than 300 gallons. It needs plenty of room to swim, and short bursts will make it feel confined. You can put a 6' great white shark in a 6' 125 gallon tank, but that doesn't mean it's going to be happy... lol!

Biggest misconception is gallons. Its not so much the volume but the size it needs. 7-8 feet would be great even at only say 15"
